The MotoGP world championship returns to the scene of its previous race at Misano but there should be no lack of interest after a dramatic turn of events in the San Marino Grand Prix.
Championship leader Jorge Martin won the sprint race impressively but made a terrible tactical error when pitting for wet tyres in the main race. The rain never became strong enough and he was forced into a second stop for slicks before trailing home in 15th place.
Marc Marquez went on to secure his second successive victory with Francesco Bagnaia second, and the Italian is now just seven points behind Martin in the standings, with Marquez having moved up to third place.
Fans could be treated to another epic contest as the riders return to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.
Jorge Martin to win - 5/2
Jorge Martin made a huge tactical blunder in the main race at Misano last time out but the rain is expected to stay away this weekend and the championship leader should have a strong chance of getting his title bid back on track.
World champion Francesco 'Pecco' Bagnaia is again the favourite but has won only one of the last four races and the 2021 and 2022 Misano winner doesn't look huge value given the strength of the challenges he is likely to face.
Bagnaia gave himself a confidence boost with the fastest time at the test held at the track on the day after the race but after finishing second to his two title rivals in each of the Misano races he has work to do.
Martin was on course for a podium at least and potentially a double win, which would have matched his twin successes in the sprint race and grand prix in 2023.
The Spaniard's winless run now stretches to eight races but he has been first or second in the last six sprint races and his consistency has kept the points rolling in.
Bagnaia was still feeling the effects of the nasty crash he had in the previous race in Aragon, and should be more like his normal self this time, but Marquez is the man with the momentum after taking his first two wins on a Ducati.
His odds have shortened accordingly and Martin could prove the best value of the main protagonists this week.
Enea Bastianini each-way - 7/1
Ducati's Enea Bastianini lost his third place in the championship when Marquez won the San Marino Grand Prix but he still picked up some solid points himself, continuing his excellent record at the track.
The Italian won at Misano in both Moto3 and Moto2 and the only two podium finishes of his rookie season in 2020 came in the two rounds held at the track.
He was second there in 2022 and missed the 2023 race but was back on the podium two weeks ago.
With five podium finishes in the last seven rounds including his superb win at Silverstone, Bastianini looks a worthwhile each-way bet.
Franco Morbidelli each-way - 14/1
Franco Morbidelli is down in 12th place in the championship standings after a miserable start to the season but there are strong grounds for thinking his fortunes are about to change for the better.
The Pramac Racing Ducati rider was available at 60/1 for the San Marino race but his impressive weekend means his odds are much shorter this time.
Morbidelli was third in the sprint race two weeks ago and running well again when he crashed out in the main race as the rain briefly arrived.
Another positive pointer for his prospects was his second place in the post-race race test at Misano, when only Bagnaia set a faster time.
Francesco Bagnaia - 11/8
Jorge Martin - 5/2
Marc Marquez - 3/1
Enea Bastianini - 7/1
Franco Morbidelli - 14/1
Pedro Acosta - 22/1
Brad Binder - 22/1
