Jorge Martin has built a handy lead of 38 points in the MotoGP world championship but could face some stiff competition in the Grand Prix of Catalunya in Barcelona on Sunday.
Maverick Vinales each-way - 6/1
MotoGP championship leader Jorge Martin produced another impressive ride to win for the second time this season in the French Grand Prix last time out, but his rivals will be lining up to throw down challenges in Barcelona this week.
While Ducati riders fill the first four places in the championship, the manufacturer has not won any of the last five races in Barcelona, which have gone to riders from Yamaha twice and Aprilia, KTM and Honda once each.
Martin also has a relatively poor record in Catalunya. He failed to win in six races there in Moto2 and Moto3, managing just one podium finish, and has been 14th, second and third in three MotoGP races there.
Those back-to-back podiums suggest he won't be far away again, as the odds suggest, but there's no denying that this is a track where he is more vulnerable than most of the others on the calendar.
Francesco Bagnaia is another Ducati man who may not be looking forward to this weekend. Pecco has crashed out of the last two Barcelona races and was fortunate to escape a major injury when coming off his bike early in last year's race.
Maverick was able to win for Aprilia in the United States Grand Prix at Austin and could be a good-value option for Barcelona. The Spaniard goes extremely well at the track, finishing second for Aprilia last year after winning on a Yamaha in 2022.
Aprilia should have a spring in their step heading to Montmelo after their one-two finish through Aleix Espergaro and Vinales last season, albeit in a depleted field for the restarted race, and Vinales' win coupled with his fifth place in France last time out suggest he can be in the mix again this week.
Vinales is from nearby Figueres and could give the local fans plenty to cheer this weekend.
Pedro Acosta podium finish - 15/8
Pedro Acosta has done nothing to dispel the idea that he is a world champion in waiting in his first MotoGP season, although the young star, who turns 20 on Saturday, suffered a setback when crashing out of the French Grand Prix.
The Moto2 champion is still an impressive sixth in the championship for KTM after finishing on the podium in Portugal and the United States and he looks capable of securing another top-three finish in Catalunya.
Acosta was going well early in the last race after qualifying in the top six and finishing seventh in the Sprint race and if the Ducati drought at Barcelona continues he would be a prime candidate to take advantage.
Fabio Quartararo each-way - 125/1
Johann Zarco has been a man to look out for in recent races in Barcelona, having finished second, third and fourth in the last three races there, but those all came on a Ducati before his move to Honda this year and the Japanese manufacturer's bikes have simply not been up to the task this season.
The four regular Honda riders fill four of the last five places in the championship standings but there may just be signs of life at Yamaha, who have also had a poor start to the year.
Fabio Quartararo won this race in 2022 and the team made set-up changes during the last weekend which helped him to run in the top six early in the race before crashing out.
More development work in a post-race test has given them increased hope for this weekend and El Diablo may well be able to outperform his odds in Barcelona.
Jorge Martin - 12/5
Francesco Bagnaia - 11/4
Aleix Espargaro - 3/1
Maverick Vinales - 6/1
Marc Marquez - 13/2
Pedro Acosta - 10/1
Brad Binder - 11/1
