The final round of the Scottish League Cup group stage concludes on Sunday, with Motherwell hosting Partick Thistle in the day’s sole match.

The hosts are top of Group G and a draw, depending on Clyde’s result on Saturday, could be enough to see them through to the second round, with a win guaranteeing them a place in the next phase.

Thistle, however, need a win to have any chance of qualifying, assuming Clyde beat Montrose on Saturday.

The match is scheduled for 15.00 BST on Sunday 28th July, with Motherwell’s home stadium Fir Park the venue for the clash.

Motherwell v Partick Thistle stats and head-to-head record (H2H)

Motherwell are leading the way in Group G having won two matches and earning two points in their other game by beating Montrose on penalties.

Partick Thistle, meanwhile, are sat on six points having beaten Edinburgh City and Montrose, but they suffered a shock defeat to Clyde last time out and will be looking to find form again before their league season kicks off next weekend.

Goals could be on the cards at Fir Park given that eight of Motherwell’s last 11 competitive games have seen both teams score, with the same bet landing in seven of Partick’s last eight matches, excluding friendlies.

Motherwell have the better head-to-head record, winning 14 of the 34 meetings between these sides including three of the last six, but the two haven’t met since 2018, making this a hard game to call.

Steven Lawless remains out for Partick Thistle and he has been joined on the sidelines by goalkeeper David Mitchell who was forced off in the loss to Clyde last week and is unlikely to be risked so soon.
