It seems as though money is literally no object for Premier League clubs in this day and age.
For those of a certain vintage, it won't feel too long ago that Trevor Francis was being unveiled as English football's first £1 million player at St. Andrew's in Birmingham.
Nor does it seem too far in the past that Alan Shearer broke new ground when he made his blockbuster move from Blackburn Rovers to Newcastle United for the first eight-figure fee in 1996.
Since then, we have seen Premier League clubs splashing out quite incredible sums of money to capture domestic and foreign talent, with Liverpool's £125 million acquisition of Alexander Isak in the summer of 2025 remaining the current league record.
But what about overall spends of clubs in the Premier League... who has spent the most during a single window?
Well you probably won't be too surprised to hear that it's indeed Liverpool, who forked out an eye-watering £415 million to fund Arne Slot's Anfield rebuild 12 months ago.
Isak topped the incoming charts for the Reds who also spent heavily on German star Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike amongst others.
The club's hefty outlay eventually culminated in a fifth place finish for the Merseysiders, with the disappointing league finish for the then defending champions also costing Slot his job.
It's recently been labelled by Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher as "the worst transfer window for a club in Premier League history".
But still, it hasn't stopped the top-flight heavyweights from parting with their cash in such vast sums this summer.
In fact, three of the top six record spends across a transfer window have taken place this year, with a few days still remaining for clubs to conduct further business.
Chelsea, who appear in the list three times, currently top the 2026 charts on the back of their £347 million outlay, whilst Tottenham Hotspur (£322 million) and Manchester City (£282 million) aren't too far behind.
There's no doubt that the three of those will add to their tallies too, with Spurs closing in on the £50 million signing of Omar Marmoush from City, whilst Enzo Maresca is expected to use the money generated from that sale to help fund deals for Brazilian starlet Allan and fellow South American Enzo Fernandez.
With the two of those likely to command an overall outlay of around £160 million, we could have a new name at the top of the Premier League spending charts come early September.
