After leapfrogging Alastair Cook in the century charts during the summer of 2024, Root has now hauled himself above Younis Khan, Sunil Gavaskar, Brian Lara and Mahela Jayawardene on the all-time list and drew level with Rahul Dravid by recording his 36th Test hundred.

Root will now have Kumar Sangakkara in his sights, with the legendary Sri Lankan batter accumulating 38 Test centuries.

Sachin Tendulkar remains comfortably top with the India legend tallying 51 career Test hundreds and he's trailed by South African batter Jacques Kallis.
