Manchester City > Barcelona (2022)
Keira Walsh became the most expensive female player in the world when she departed Manchester City for Barcelona in August 2022.
Completing the UEFA Women's Champions League and Liga F double in consecutive seasons with the Catalan giants, Walsh has also received a number of individual accolades, most notably her inclusions in the FIFA FIFRO Women's World 11 for three years running.
Levante > Chelsea (2024)
Following a season-ending ACL injury to Sam Kerr, Chelsea were forced to delve into the transfer market and acquired Mayra Ramirez from Levante for a British record fee in January 2024.
The dynamic forward made a seamless transition into life in the English capital and helped Chelsea to retain their WSL title for a fifth successive year, which included a brace in a 6-0 victory over Manchester United.
Shanghai Shengli > Orlando Pride (2024)
Zambian striker Barbra Banda made the switch to National Women's Soccer League in the United States as she joined Orlando Pride on a four-year deal from Shanghai Shengli.
Leading the Pride to the NSWL Shield and Championship, Banda was also named MVP in her debut season, which resulted in her inclusion in the FIFPRO Women's World 11.
Madrid CFF > Bay FC (2024)
Banda was pipped to the title of most expensive female footballer by her compatriot Racheal Kundananji, who completed a record-breaking move to NSWL side Bay FC in February 2024.
The forward enjoyed a prolific stint in Madrid where she scored 33 goals in 43 Liga F appearances and Kundananji played a vital role in helping her country achieve qualification for the Olympics in Paris.
San Diego Wave > Chelsea (2025)
Naomi Girma became the first female million-dollar player when Chelsea paid handsomely for her services from San Diego Wave in the 2025 winter transfer window.
The Ethiopian-American played every minute at the 2024 Olympics as the United States won gold in Paris and the defender was nominated for women's player of the year at the 2024 FIFA Best Awards.
