Most expensive transfers for players 30 and over

Find out the 10 players aged 30 and over with the most expensive transfer fee.

Cristiano Ronaldo (£97.5m)

Arguably the greatest footballer of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo has scored the most goals in the history of the game.

Real Madrid received a fee of £97.5m when he made the switch to Juventus in the summer of 2018.

Aged 33 at the time, Ronaldo went on to score 101 times for the Old Lady.

Harry Kane (£79.1m)

With 280 goals, Harry Kane is Tottenham's all-time leading goalscorer.

He made the switch to Bayern Munich back in 2023, winning the Bundesliga golden boot in his first season.

Neymar (£74.9m)

Undoubtedly one of the most talented players of his generation, Neymar earns his place on this list as a result of his move to Al-Hilal in 2023.

The Brazilian only managed seven appearances for the Saudi Arabian team before returning to his boyhood club, Santos.

Casemiro (£59.9m)

A dominant force at the base of Real Madrid's midfield for nearly a decade, Casemiro won five UEFA Champions League titles at the Spanish club.

Whilst his move to Manchester United hasn't garnered the same success, he still has EFL Cup and FA Cup honours to his name.

Miralem Pjanic (£50m)

Blessed with exceptional technical ability, Miralem Pjanic established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A during his time with Roma and Juventus.

There was a degree of excitement when he made the move to Barcelona in 2020 but the Bosnian only managed to start 13 games for the club.

Robert Lewandowksi (£38m)

One of three players to score 100+ UEFA Champions League goals, Robert Lewandowski has carved out a distinguished career for some of Europe's top clubs.

After plying his trade in Germany for just over a decade, a move to Barcelona has seen a continuation of his fine goalscoring form.

Marco Verratti (£37.5m)

Supremely gifted, Marco Verratti's excellent vision and passing ability allowed him to dictate the tempo of a game from midfield.

Associated mainly with his time at Paris Saint-Germain, the Italian established himself as one of the world's best in his position.

Leonardo Bonucci (£35m)

Striking up an almost impenetrable relationship with teammates Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci was pivotal to the success of Juventus in the mid 2010s.

His move to AC Milan at the age of 30 was somewhat of a shock at the time and didn't last too long; Bonucci subsequently returned to Juventus after just one season in the capital.

Paulinho (£35m)

Now retired, Paulinho enjoyed a nomadic career. The Brazilian represented clubs in seven different countries including spells in China, Spain, Lithaunia and England.

Although his move to Barcelona in 2017 came as a surprise to many at the time, he played a key role as his team went on to win a domestic double.

Kalidou Koulibaly (£34m)

Flourishing under Maurizio Sarri at Napoli, Koulibaly quickly became one of the most sought after defenders in Europe.

He made 317 appearances in an eight-year spell at the club before sealing a move to Chelsea in 2022. His Premier League career only lasted one season, however, as he joined Al-Hilal in the following summer.
