Most expensive player sales from Monaco

We take a look at Monaco's top 10 most expensive player sales.

• Axel Disasi - Monaco to Chelsea (€45.00m)

Axel Disasi is one in a deluge of signings made during the Todd Boehly era at Chelsea.

Moving to the Blues on a six-year contract in August 2023, Disasi made 129 appearances from Monaco and featured as a substitute in the 2022 World Cup final against Argentina.

• Youri Tielemans - Monaco to Leicester City (€45.00m)

Initially joining on loan in January 2019, Youri Tielemans made the switch to Leicester City permanent in a club-record deal in July of that year.

The central midfielder played a key role in the Foxes' successful FA Cup campaign in 2021 and helped Brendan Rodgers' side to successive fifth-placed finishes in the Premier League before joining Aston Villa in 2023.

• Fabinho - Monaco to Liverpool (€45.00m)

Signed by Jurgen Klopp in May 2018, Fabinho was an instrumental figure in the club's 2018/19 Champions League and 2019/20 Premier League winning sides.

At one stage he was Liverpool's most important player during Klopp's reign and a driving force in their quadruple quest. His form deteriorated in the latter stages of his Reds career and Fabinho was sold to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023.

• Bernardo Silva - Monaco to Man City (€50.00m)

Arguably one of Manchester City's greatest signings, Bernardo Silva has been an ever-present in a side that have conquered all that's stood before them.

The Portuguese magician has clocked up over 350 appearances for the Citizens and collected six Premier League winners medals, four in the EFL Cup, two in the FA Cup and the most important prize of them all, an UEFA Champions League winners medal.

• Benjamin Mendy - Monaco to Man City (€57.50m)

After helping Monaco to their first league title in 17 years, Benjamin Mendy became the world's most expensive defender in the summer of 2017 following his switch to Manchester City.

Mendy won the Premier League three times in Manchester and now plies his trade in Ligue 2 with Lorient.

• Anthony Martial - Monaco to Man Utd (€60.00m)

Manchester United made Anthony Martial the most expensive teenage footballer in 2015 when they signed him from Monaco on deadline day.

Despite early promise, Martial failed to live up to expectations at Old Trafford and ultimately departed the club in the summer of 2024 after nine seasons.

• Thomas Lemar - Monaco to Atletico Madrid (€72.00m)

Atletico Madrid splashed the cash in the summer of 2018 as they acquired Thomas Lemar from Monaco, despite reported interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

The winger's stint in the Spanish capital has been an underwhelming one and injuries have plagued his career of late, having made just five appearances between the start of the 2023/24 season and December 2024.

• James Rodriguez - Monaco to Real Madrid (€75.00m)

Following a sensational 2014 World Cup in which he won the Golden Boot and helped Colombia reach the quarter-finals, Real Madrid delved into their pockets and paid handsomely for James Rodriguez, a man who Florentino Perez dubbed "one of the best in the world".

A productive first season was as good as it got for Rodriguez at the Santiago Bernabeu and the creative midfielder would later have unfruitful spells with Everton, Al-Rayyan and Olympiacos.

• Aurelien Tchouameni - Monaco to Real Madrid (€80.00m)

Another player to swap the tranquility of the French Riviera for the commotion of the Spanish capital, Aurelien Tchouameni joined Real Madrid on a six-year contract in the summer of 2022.

Having made a strong start to life with Los Blancos and impressing Carlo Ancelotti with his versatility, injury woes have hindered Tchouameni's progress of late.

• Kylian Mbappe - Monaco to PSG (€180.00m)

Initially making the switch to Paris on a season-long loan deal, Mbappe joined PSG on a permanent basis in 2018 for the second-highest transfer fee ever paid for a player.

The forward netted 256 goals and recorded 108 assists in 308 appearances for the Parisian club before making his highly-anticipated move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024.
