Most expensive player sales from Leicester City

We take a look at the top 10 most expensive player sales from Leicester City.

Premier League

• Harry Maguire (€87.00m)

Harry Maguire became the most expensive central defender in Premier League history when making an €87.00m move from Leicester City to Manchester United in 2019.

While many would argue that he hasn't lived up to the price tag, he remains a significant member of Ruben Amorim's squad and will be hoping to add to his honours at the club in the coming years.

• Wesley Fofana (€80.40m)

Wesley Fofana alerted the attention of Chelsea in 2022 following two impressive years at Leicester where he had emerged as one of Europe's most exciting defensive prospects.

The Frenchman has had unfortunate luck with injuries since his move to Stamford Bridge, suffering from two significant knee injuries, both keeping him out for long periods.

• Riyad Mahrez (€67.80m)

It was no surprise to see that Riyad Mahrez was in high demand after his remarkable 2015/16 Premier League campaign, scoring 17 times and registering 11 assists in a season where the Foxes clinched the league title.

It wasn't until 2018 that the winger would get his move, however, joining Manchester City for a €67.80m fee.

• Ben Chilwell (€50.20m)

Ben Chilwell was amongst of a number of players in Leicester's Premier League winning squad that left the club in the following years, signing for Chelsea for €50.20m in 2020.

While the England international was a huge contributor to Chelsea's UEFA Champions League winning season in 2020/21, he has since struggled for game time under new manager Enzo Marseca, resulting in a loan move to Crystal Palace for the left-back.

• James Maddison (€46.30m)

James Maddison made the €46.30m move to Tottenham in 2023 off the back of five impressive years at Leicester, including an FA Cup win in 2021.

He hasn't yet tasted silverware since his move to north London, struggling to maintain a concrete place in Ange Postecoglou's side due to injuries.

• Harvey Barnes (€44.00m)

Harvey Barnes was a product of the Leicester City academy, breaking in to the first team setup in 2016.

After seven years at the club, including three separate loan spells, Barnes made a €44.00m move to Newcastle, though hasn't yet solidified a spot in his favoured left-wing role primarily due to the quality of Anthony Gordon.

• Danny Drinkwater (€37.90m)

Danny Drinkwater, like Chilwell, made the move from Leicester to the capital, signing for Chelsea in 2017 for €37.90m.

Almost unbelievably, the capped England midfielder played just 23 times for Chelsea in a five year spell between 2017 and 2022.

• N'Golo Kante (€35.80m)

N'Golo Kante's time at Chelsea, following his €35.80m move from Leicester, played out much differently to Drinkwater's, establishing himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe.

The Frenchman won the Premier League in his first season at the club in the 2016/17 campaign, also adding the UEFA Champions League to his accolades in 2021.

• Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (€35.40m)

The fifth and final player on this list to make the direct switch from Leicester to Chelsea is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, making the move in the summer prior to the start of the 2024/25 campaign for €35.40m.

Competing with established internationals for a spot in central midfield has proved difficult for Dewsbury-Hall, seeing most of his minutes come in the UEFA Conference League.

• Ahmed Musa (€16.50m)

Ahmed Musa is the only player on this list of 10 that made a switch from Leicester to a club outside of the Premier League, signing for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

He spent just two years in Saudi Arabia, before moving on to sign for Nigerian side Kano Pillars in 2021.
