With Derby County full-back Ryan Nyambe on the verge of possessing the unwanted record, we've taken a look at the players who have made the most Championship appearances without scoring a goal.

5. Jonathan Spector - 153 appearances

Club(s): Birmingham City

Jonathan Spector spent since years with Birmingham City from 2011, helping the club to the Championship play-off semi-finals in his first season and featuring in their Europa League campaign.

Unfortunately his time at St Andrew's didn't return a goal, although the American was well-liked on the terraces of St Andrew's.

4. Michael Mancienne - 193 appearances

Club(s): QPR, Wolves, Nottingham Forest

Emerging through Chelsea's academy, Michael Mancienne had loan spells at QPR and Wolves but couldn't get on the scoresheet in the league with either club.

A switch to Germany followed with Hamburger SV before returning to the Championship on a permanent basis at Nottingham Forest, where he was unable to conjure a goal in four seasons with the East Midlands club.

Mancienne's first professional goal came in his 15th season with the New England Revolution in the MLS.

3. James Chambers - 196 appearances

Club(s): Watford, Cardiff City, Leicester City, Doncaster Rovers

Marginally ahead of Mancienne is James Chambers, who made 196 Championship appearances for four clubs but failed to score in any of them.

Chambers did score in the 2005/06 Championship play-off final against Leeds United, although it was later ruled as an Neil Sullivan own goal.

The full-back made permanent moves to Leicester City and Doncaster Rovers but a Championship goal still eluded him.

2. Ryan Nyambe - 199 appearances*

Club(s): Blackburn Rovers, Wigan Athletic, Derby County

Derby County's Ryan Nyambe is the only active player who is currently in the top five of this list.

The Namibian established as a regular starter under Tony Mowbray at Blackburn Rovers and despite chalking up four assists in the 2020/21 campaign, a goal never came his way.

What hasn't aided Nyambe's cause is that in the 14 months from Christmas 2023, the full-back has only registered one shot.

1. Chris Barker - 201 appearances

Club(s): Stoke City, Cardiff City, Colchester United, QPR, Plymouth Argyle

Currently holding the record for most Championship appearances without scoring a goal is Chris Barker, who appeared for five clubs in the Championship but failed to score for any of them.

The central defender had loan spells at Stoke City and Colchester United whilst contracted to Cardiff City, later moving to QPR and Plymouth Argyle where he spent two seasons.
