The 2016-17 season marked a landmark campaign for Atletico Madrid as they prepared to wave goodbye to the Vicente Calderon Stadium which had served as their home for more than 60 years.
Fresh off losing the final of the UEFA Champions League final on penalties to their bitter rivals Real Madrid, Diego Simeone's side dusted themselves off and again began their quest to break the hegemony of the Clasico clubs.
And despite briefly leading La Liga in October after going unbeaten in their first eight games, that success would prove to be short-lived as they ultimately finished third, 12 points behind Barcelona and 15 behind Real.
That story would be replicated both in the Copa del Rey, and in Europe.
In the Spanish Cup the club reached the semi-final stage where they welcomed a free-scoring Barcelona side featuring that devastating three-pronged attack of Luis Suarez, Neymar and Lionel Messi.
Ultimately the Blaugrana would prevail over two legs, winning 2-1 in the Spanish capital before holding Simeone's side to a 1-1 draw at the Camp Nou to progress into the final.
Atletico's adventures in Europe would prove come to a similar conclusion.
Having topped a group that also included Bayern Munich to progress to the knockout stages, Atletico dispatched Bayer Leverkusen and Leicester City to reach the final four for the third time in the last four seasons.
The fixture proved to be a repeat of the previous season's final, and the club couldn't have gotten off to a worse start after falling to a 3-0 defeat in the first leg after a stunning hat-trick from talisman Cristiano Ronaldo.
Goals from Saul and Antoine Griezmann saw Atletico race into a two-goal lead in the return fixture but it ultimately wasn't enough as Real went on to progress 4-2 on aggregate before defeating Juventus in the final to defend their title.
Though they failed to claim any silverware, Atletico once again competed on three fronts that season, with the spine of the team still in place as they went on to win the UEFA Europa League the following year.
But who made the most appearances for Atletico Madrid in the 2016/17 season? Let's find out.
