Australian Football: Moon stays grounded after win

Brisbane Roar coach Warren Moon says he will keep his players grounded after they boosted their top-six hopes with a 4-1 demolition of Perth Glory on Saturday night.

Roar have been struggling for much of the season but are now priced at 7/2 to finish in the top six after moving to within six points of finals.

Rare away win

Roar also have games in hand on the sides around them and if they can make them count then the top six could be a real possibility.

The win at HBF Park, their first away win of the season, will give them a huge boost though and Moon says it is definitely something they can build on.

Their top-six credentials will be put to the test next week when they face ladder leaders Melbourne City and second-placed Western United.

Both games will be on home soil and although Moon says they should not get carried away with the Perth win, it will give them a nice boost leading into the double-header.

Keeping cool

"We're not getting carried away," Moon told reporters after the game. "It's probably important for us not to look at the table and get too far ahead of ourselves.

"There's still lots for us to improve on, and if we're serious about making a charge or a run to the finals, we need to be better.

"Tonight was nice it was a great result and we can build on that. But there's still lots of areas we can improve on. Concentration is a big one."

Brisbane will also be delighted by the fact that new striker Juan Lescano will gain a massive confidence boost with a well-taken brace in the west.
