Mohamed Salah scoops PFA Players' Player of the Year award

Mohamed Salah has been named PFA Players' Player of the Year for a record-breaking third time following a spectacular 2024/25 season.

Premier League

Salah was instrumental in Liverpool winning their 20th league title and their second in the Premier League as he returned a staggering 29 goals and 18 assists, which saw him claim the Golden Boot for a fourth time.

Records continued to tumble at the feet of Salah, whose tally of 47 goal involvements was the most combined goals and assists in a 38-match season. He equalled the overall Premier League record, jointly held by Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole, both of whom reached 47 in 42-match campaigns.

Salah's goal return also saw him become the highest-scoring overseas player in Premier League history, overtaking Sergio Aguero's 184 goals, and the forward signed a two-year contract extension to stay at Anfield until 2027, sparking suggestion he could be knocking on the door of the top three in the Premier League all-time goalscorers list.

Salah's remarkable form has thrust him into the 2025 Ballon d'Or conversation and the Egyptian's excellence was widely acknowledged by his peers as he received the prestigious accolade for a third time.

Several players have won the PFA Players' Player of the Year award twice, including Kevin De Bruyne, Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry, but Salah has become the first to receive the gong on three occasions.

The 33-year-old had already won the Premier League Player of the Year award and he was also named FWA Footballer of the Year in early May after receiving more than 90% of the votes.

Salah was one of six nominees for PFA Players' Player of the Year alongside teammate Alexis Mac Allister, a potential future teammate in Alexander Isak of Newcastle United, Bruno Fernandes, Cole Palmer and Declan Rice.

Elsewhere, Morgan Rogers' exploits for Aston Villa last season were rewarded in him being named PFA Young Player of the Year.

The former Nottingham Forest man netted 14 times in 54 appearances for the Villans, with his form in both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League securing him international honours for the first time with the England men's senior side.
