Mister Hunter produced a stunning performance to take out the APG Vic Gold Bullion final for two-year-old colts and geldings at Tabcorp Park, Menangle, on Saturday night.
With reinsman Jack Laugher in the sulky, Mister Hunter came from the back of the field to take the win thanks to a devastating show of pace in the sprint for home.
The win was Laugher’s first in a Group 1 race, and just to make it extra special he was delighted to do it for the 17-strong ownership group.
“It does make it feel that bit better doing it for a big group of owners," Laugher told TrotsVision. "They all probably haven’t had a great deal of horses in their time, but there’s just a bunch of them that own little bits and pieces of him.

“They were all here tonight and cheering him on, they all got a great thrill out of it and so have I and it’s great for the sport really.”
Mister Hunter had won two of his four starts heading in to his latest assignment and Laugher was happy to adopt a patient approach throughout the race.
Laugher put the foot on the gas in the final 200metresto beat Will He Reign by 6.9metres. Staroftheshow came in third.
“He put the writing on the wall and he was just too good, it didn’t really matter who drove him tonight,” Laugher said of Mister Hunter. “I was lucky enough to get the steer, I am very grateful for that.”
