Millwall, Derby and Wrexham in battle for Championship defender

Millwall, Derby County and Wrexham are reportedly targeting the signing of Watford defender Mattie Pollock.

Journalist Pete O'Rourke has reported that the Championship trio are lining up a move for the player before the end of the transfer window.

However, it is believed that Watford are reluctant to sanction the sale of their club captain, particularly with the window closing on Tuesday night.

Pollock joined Watford from Grimsby Town in the summer of 2021 for a fee of £250,000.

He had loan spells at both Cheltenham Town and Aberdeen before returning to Vicarage Road and breaking into the first-team.

Injury limited his time on the pitch to just 20 Championship appearances last season but he is held in high regard at the club.

The 24-year-old will be difficult to replace in the coming days and Watford supporters will be hoping that the club can fend off the late interest.

He would almost certainly walk straight into the first-team of Millwall, Derby and Wrexham, all of whom will be targeting a play-off place this season.
