Australian Football: Miller linked with Bulls switch

Central Coast Mariners could face a battle to keep Lewis Miller after Macarthur confirmed their interest in the talented defender.

The Mariners are priced at 4/6 to make the top six this season and Miller has played a key role in their season so far.

Out of contract

The 21-year-old will be off-contract at the end of the season and so far there is no sign of him penning a new one with the Mariners.

That could open the door for rival clubs to swoop and Macarthur boss Ante Milicic has confirmed he would be interested in taking the player if he became available.

There is still all to play for in the A-League campaign this season and Milicic did not want to say too much about a potential transfer.

"He's a player I'd be interested in, no doubt, but you don't want to talk too much about speculation or players from other clubs, particularly one that's having such a good season," Milicic told AAP. "Central Coast are firmly in contention for the semi-finals positions, so I think that'd be disrespectful to speak any further, but I'm constantly monitoring players for next season and he's just one that's on my list.

"There's obviously a lot more and I'm sure other coaches will tell you the same."

Replacement lined up

Meanwhile it seems as though the Mariners are preparing for life without Miller as it is claimed Western Sydney's Thomas Aquilina is being lined up as a replacement.
