A blockbuster matchup between Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson is what every fight fan wishes to see, and Mike Tyson has weighed in with his verdict on a potential showdown between the two lightweight champions.
A highly-anticipated bout between the unbeaten pair has yet to come to fruition, despite their brooding rivalry which has seen them both trade insults and jibes at one another.
'Tank' Davis, who currently holds the WBA lightweight title, fought to a split decision draw against Lamont Roach Jr in his last bout and the 30-year-old will look to settle the score when the two reacquaint for the rematch in Las Vegas on June 21.
Stevenson, on the other hand, is preparing for a fascinating battle with William Zepeda three weeks later in New York City on July 12 after the WBC lightweight belt holder recorded his 23rd professional victory against Josh Padley in February.
The likelihood of Davis and Stevenson colliding this year appears increasingly slim, but it's hoped that - subject to the outcomes of their upcoming fights - the pair may potentially lock horns in 2026.
There is great intrigue as to how a fight between Davis and Stevenson would play out and who better to share their insight on the situation than former heavyweight champion Tyson.
Speaking to iFL TV, ‘Iron’ Mike said: “It's a tough one. On record it looks like Tank’s the winner.
"But Shakur’s one of those fighters that we were talking about in the car coming up here, he is so much better than what he looks like, so I’m sure when Tank gets in there it’s not gonna be as easy as he anticipated.”
While many dream of a Davis v Stevenson confrontation, Eddie Hearn recently suggested that Davis may be in line to face Jake Paul if the YouTuber-turned-boxer defeats Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Speaking at the Chris Eubank v Conor Benn press conference, Matchroom Boxing promoter Hearn said: "We know that Gervonta [Davis] is going to fight Jake Paul in November. Then, we'll see what happens.
"It'll be interesting to go from Gervonta Davis to Anthony Joshua. I don't think the Chavez fight is terrible."
