Our resident darts expert Keith Deller MBE provides his betting insight into Saturday afternoon's European Championship last 16 showdown between Michael Smith and Ritchie Edhouse.
Michael Smith v Ritchie Edhouse
Saturday 26th October (14:00)
Ritchie Edhouse was absolutely sensational in his opening round victory over Gian van Veen, but Michael Smith is the big favourite here and it's difficult to look beyond him.
For those who didn't see, Ritchie fired home a remarkable 109+ average as he breezed to victory over the supremely talented Dutchman on Thursday night.
Yet despite that, I just can't see how he can possibly replicate that same level of performance in a far longer format against a player of Michael's calibre.
I'm sure Ritchie will have his moments but I fully expect Michael to have his too, and as we have seen so many times in the past, when he does have that moment, he can reel three or four legs off in double-quick time.
I like the 'Match Double of 'Bully Boy' to win the match and land the most 180s, especially with it priced up slightly better than even-money, whilst I am also taking another look at the bullseye finish here.
We have seen a handful of these already this week - a couple of which I tipped up - and I feel there is plenty of value with it in this match as well, especially now we switch to a best-of-19 format.
For those of you who like to back the underdog, well you may be interested to know that Ritchie has actually prevailed in each of the past two meetings between the players; both of which came in final leg shootouts.
A 10-9 Ritchie Edhouse victory this afternoon is priced up handsomely at 9/1, just in case it tickles your fancy.
