Men's Olympic Football Odds: Thierry Henry's France favourites to capture Olympic Gold on home soil

We take a look at the contenders to capture Olympic Gold in the men's football competition at the 2024 Olympic Games.

It appears to be a straight three-team shoot-out for Olympic Gold in the men's football competition this summer, with host-nation France currently heading the betting.

Thierry Henry's side have been installed as favourites to replicate the success of France's class of 1984 in California, by capturing the top gong in Paris 40 years on from that momentous occasion in Los Angeles.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona star has already confirmed his 23-man squad, and it includes Crystal Palace's in-demand Michael Olise and Jean-Philippe Mateta, along with Alexandre Lacazette and PSG star Warren Zaire-Emery - the sole squad representative who is also heading to Euro 2024.

But where will the biggest threat to France's hopes come from?

In short, Argentina and Spain, although don't rule out an ever-improving Morocco side, who enhanced their fast-rising reputation with a remarkable run to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup.

Along with South American rivals Brazil - who missed out on qualification this time around - Argentina are the only other side to have captured Olympic Gold twice in the men's football event since the turn of the century.

And with a supremely-talented squad at the disposal of boss Javier Mascherano - together with the expected 'wildcard' inclusions of Julian Alvarez, Emiliano Martinez and Nicolas Otamendi - it's understandable as to why La Albiceleste are so heavily fancied.

Spain, as expected, also feature prominently in the betting to be crowned Olympic champions this summer, with Santi Denia's talented squad once again expected to go deep after capturing a silver medal four years ago.

Captained by Tottenham Hotspur's Bryan Gil, La Rojita are also expected to include the likes of Barcelona starlet Pau Cubarsi and Leeds United's former England U21 frontman Mateo Joseph.
