Meetingofthewaters is 10/1 to win the 2024 Grand National as Willie Mullins goes looking for his second winner in the race after Hedgehunter's success back in 2005.
Owned by JP McManus, who's had two winners in the race with Don't Push It and Minella Times, the seven-year-old has received plenty of market support in the run-up to the Grand National Festival.
Mark Walsh opted to ride 12/1 shot Limerick Lace instead having piloted Meetingofthewaters at the Cheltenham Festival to a third-place finish in the Ultima, while Paul Townend takes I Am Maximus, meaning Danny Mullins will be in the saddle for the second time.
Meetingofthewaters won impressively under Mullins at Leopardstown over Christmas, beating fellow Grand National contender Panda Boy (10/1), and will carry 10st8lbs - the same as Limerick Lace.
The seven-year-old isn't the most experienced campaigner and can be keen - as seen in the Ultima - but in a Grand National, even a 34-horse Grand National, Mullins will hope to find his charge amongst the front-runners early on.
The going looks set to be soft after relentless rain throughout the UK, though the next two days look set to be drier, and the ground ought to suit Meetingofthewaters, whose most recent two wins have come on soft ground at Cork and Leopardstown, even more so when carrying nearly a stone less than many horses who'll be lining up on Saturday afternoon.
