After superstar forward Connor McDavid became the first player to reach 100 points this season, head coach Jay Woodcroft said he believes his Captain's main goal is team success for the Edmonton Oilers.
The Oilers, 25/1 to win the Stanley Cup, had a goal and assist from McDavid on Wednesday to beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-3 in a shoot-out on Wednesday.
McDavid consistently excellent
McDavid was drafted by the Oilers with the first-pick in the 2015 NHL draft and since has reached the three-figure milestone in five of his seven NHL seasons.
Overall, the 25-year-old has amassed an impressive 672 points (231 goals, 441 assists) in 473 regular season games.
McDavid has led the NHL for points three times, in 2016/17 (100 points in 82 games), 2017/18 (108 points in 82 games), and 2020/21 (105 points in 56 games). In each of those seasons, he won the Hart Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player.

Despite his personal success in the regular season, the Oilers have yet to enjoy a significant Stanley Cup play-off run with McDavid in the line-up.
In each of the past two seasons, Edmonton have been beaten in the first-round, with their best recent run coming in 2016/17 when they lost in the conference semi-finals.
Oilers currently in third
The Oilers (38-25-5) are third in the Pacific Division, trailing the second-placed Kings by three points.
Woodcroft, who replaced Dave Tippett as Edmonton's coach mid-season said to the media about McDavid: "He's a phenomenal athlete who takes his craft very serious.
"He's proud to have reached that mark I'm sure, but as I said this morning, I think he's driven to get our team to 100 points."
