Mauricio Pochettino Next Club Odds: Argentine favourite to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd

After his abrupt departure from Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino appears a man in demand with a number of high-profile managerial positions up for grabs.

After a difficult start to his Chelsea tenure following his appointment at Stamford Bridge last summer, with the Blues languishing in mid-table for much of the campaign, Pochettino was able to commendably steer the Londoners to a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League.

This strong end to the 2023/24 season did not a signal the start of a long premiership at the club, however, with Pochettino and Chelsea mutually agreeing to part ways.

As a popular figure in English football following his previous success with both Southampton and Tottenham, Pochettino is unlikely to be out of a job for too long.

With the Argentine linked to the managerial positions at both Manchester United and England, we take a look at the latest odds on where Pochettino's future could lie.

Manchester United

Following his exit from Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino has quickly been installed as favourite to become the next manager of Man Utd.

Although Erik ten Hag remains in charge at Old Trafford, there is much uncertainty surrounding the Dutchman's future at Man Utd following a dismal Premier League campaign which saw the Red Devils finish in eighth place.

Ten Hag's last chance to salvage any shred of respectability for the 2023/24 season comes in the form of the FA Cup final against rivals Manchester City at Wembley, and if United as expected fall to defeat, his time at the club may well be brought to an end.

With new part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe keen to implement widespread changes at the club moving forward, a new manager at Old Trafford may well be in the offing.

Former Southampton, Tottenham and PSG boss Pochettino is likely to fit the bill as a potential replacement for Ten Hag at Man Utd, with the 52-year-old renowned for coaching an eye-catching brand of football and placing trust in young players.

England

Pochettino has also emerged as the latest frontrunner to become the next England manager after leaving Chelsea.

Gareth Southgate remains in charge of the Three Lions ahead of this summer's Euros in Germany, but it is widely expected that this will be the former Middlesbrough boss' last tournament in charge of his country.

Having served as England manager since 2016, with the Euros to represent his fourth major tournament in charge, it appears Southgate's time in the job may be running out.

As pre-tournament favourites, Southgate will come under intense pressure should England underperform at the Euros, and in the instance he is able to steer his country to the trophy, he may wish to bow out from the role on a high.

As far as potential replacements for Southgate as England manager are concerned, 52-year-old Pochettino represents an enticing candidate.

A popular figure in England who enjoys a strong relationship with the press on the whole, the Argentine is a progressive coach who would likely relish the opportunity to work with the Three Lions' abundance of young talent.
