Mathys Tel remains a hot topic in the January transfer window, as he looks set to join Tottenham on loan, despite interest from other teams in the Premier League.
It's clear that the promising Frenchman has the skillset to became one of Europe's most prolific forwards, but a lack of game time for the Bavarians means that he is seeking a move away from the club this January.
Here is everything you need to know about Tottenham target Mathys Tel.
Born on 27th April 2005, Mathys Tel is 19 years old.
While Tel was born in Sarcelles, France, he is of Guadeloupean descent.
While Tottenham made an attempt to introduce the Frenchman on a permanent deal, the player has reportedly opted to join the north London club on a loan deal that will expire at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
Tel's contract at Bayern Munich is set to expire in the summer of 2027.
Tel offers versatility across the front line, primarily playing as a striker, though competent when playing off the left-hand side of the attack.
Tel is 6ft and of lean build.
Tel is naturally right-footed but is comfortable using either foot.
Tel plays with a swagger that many may mistake with arrogance, but it's a style that can be incredibly off-putting for opposition defenders.
He tends to keep the ball incredibly close when one-v-one with a defender, possessing the ability to beat his opponent using his technical skillset, or through raw pace and strength.
An attribute which is valued in the current market is versatility, and this certainly plays into Tel's favour. The Frenchman is proficient when being used as a centre forward, able to drop deeper to receive the ball on the half turn, while also capable of finding space in behind the opposition's defence.
Tel can also offer his services from the left hand side of a front three, providing a direct threat due to his willingness to isolate a defender in one-v-one scenarios.

Mathys Tel spent his youth career representing a range of clubs, including JS Villiers-le-Bel, Paris FC, AS Jeunesse Aubervilliers, Montrouge FC 92 and Rennes.
He concluded his youth career with Rennes, before being gifted the opportunity to impressive in Rennes' B team. Shortly after, he was handed his Rennes professional debut on 15th August 2021 in a 1–1 league draw against Brest.
Despite playing just seven times for the French outfit, Bayern Munich recognised his talent, signing the forward for €28.5 million.
Tel is yet to represent France at a senior level, though if he is given consistent minutes at a top club, expect him to feature in Didier Deschamps' squad in the near future.
He has, however, played for France at youth level, making appearances for the U17, U18, U19 and U21 setups.
Tottenham have suffered injuries in the forward area this season, leaving Ange Postecoglou short of attacking options. While Tel would undoubtedly bring added depth, his composure in front of goals could also add quality to Spurs.
While Son Heung-min has undoubtedly been instrumental to Spurs in recent years, at 32 years old, rotation could be key to keeping him at his best. With Postecoglou's side still present in the EFL Cup and UEFA Europa League, games will be aplenty, and Tel will get his chance to prove why there was considerable interest for the signature of the Frenchman.
