Boxing News writer Shaun Brown provides his best bet for Saturday night's Commonwealth featherweight title showdown between champion Masood Abdullah and challenger Zak Miller.
Masood Abdulah makes the first defence of his Commonwealth featherweight title against Zak Miller in a fight that could steal the show in Manchester on Saturday night.
Abdulah has emerged as a hidden gem in Frank Warren’s stable and is showing real signs of becoming a real star at 130lbs having already beaten the likes of former British super bantamweight champion Marc Leach and 2016 Olympian Qais Ashfaq.
Meanwhile, Zak Miller can count himself unlucky not to have won the British featherweight title against Nathaniel Collins in November 2023, after giving the Scot the fight of his life.
To stand a chance this weekend, Miller will need to repeat a similar performance against Abdulah, whose variation means he can box in and out, on the inside or at range.
That versatility can earn him a win on points but the determination, work-rate and chin of Miller will keep him as a live underdog throughout.
Ultimately though I am expecting Miller to fall just short in another title fight.
