Bayern Munich have added Marcus Rashford to their list of summer transfer targets.
German football journalist Christian Falk reported the German champions were interested in the Manchester United winger, with Rashford’s price cut from 20/1 to 6/4 on a move to the Allianz Arena.
bet365’s Steve Freeth said on Wednesday morning: “Rashford had previously traded at 4/9 to join Barcelona this summer, but we've seen a big shift of the odds for him to join Harry Kane in Germany over the last 24 hours with Bayern Munich shortening from 20/1 into 6/4.”
Bayern Munich have made no secret of their desire to sign a new left-winger in the summer transfer window. The club have been linked with Rafael Leao, Bradley Barcola, Nico Williams and Luis Diaz so far, with Rashford now added to the list.
Milan will command a significant transfer fee for Leao, Paris Saint-Germain seem unwilling to let Barcola leave and Williams looks set to join Barcelona.
It leaves Bayern short of options, but Rashford could provide a cheap alternative, with a loan move not out of the question.
Barcelona remain in the running for the Manchester United man but their financial difficulties make a permanent move complicated, particularly if they complete the signing of Williams.
Rashford is keen to leave Old Trafford, but the Red Devils would prefer for a permanent departure that could bring £40m to a side that desperately needs reinvestment.
Rashford’s wage demands are another stumbling block potentially blocking his exit. It is thought the 27-year-old earns £300,000 a week at Old Trafford and may need to take a pay cut to secure an exit.
Under contract for another three years, Rashford is under no obligation to reduce his salary, and Manchester United would need to make up any shortfall should a suitor be unwilling to take his contract on.
