Benjamin Sesko has said he is 'very sorry' to miss Slovenia's upcoming Nations League fixtures following another injury setback.
Sesko is set to miss out on his fourth straight international break with Slovenia, reportedly creating tension between Manchester United and the national side, with the forward not playing for his country for 11 months.
Sesko missed the November international break with a knee injury and was absent again in March. The 23-year-old was dealing with a shin complaint prior to the Liverpool game towards the end of last season and hasn't started a Premier League game since.
The former Leipzig man came off the bench in each of Manchester United's first four league games and started in the EFL Cup defeat to Brighton, but was absent once again at the weekend, and the club will carry out further tests.
Posting on Instagram regarding his latest withdrawal, Sesko said: "I am very sorry that I will have to miss the national team's upcoming matches.
"I have always played for Slovenia - and always will - with heart and pride. Right now, the most important thing is to focus fully on my recovery.
"I am already working on getting back on the pitch as soon as possible to help both the national team and my club once again. I believe in our guys, and I am convinced that this time, too, they will display the team spirit that has always defined us.
"I can't wait to wear the national team jersey again; until then, I will be Slovenia's biggest fan. Go Slovenia!"
