Manchester United are set to beat local rivals Manchester City to the signing of 45-goal Derby County forward Blake Henry.
Leigh Curtis via Derbyshire Live, has reported that Manchester United are set to secure the signing of the young striker, ahead of the Citizens.
The report also mentions that that Derby County are in line to receive a 'significant compensation' package for one of their top academy talents.
The news will be bittersweet for the Rams, as they look set to have one of their most promising academy strikers, who scored an impressive 45 goals last season.
Blake Henry, who now looks set to move to Manchester United, became one of the youngest players to ever represent Derby's U18 sides last season, highlighting the regard he was held in at Pride Park.
The Championship outfit have reportedly put a significant amount of effort into extending his contract over the last 18 months, however this appears to have been in vain.
According to the report, the youngster has exercised his right to depart the Derby academy this summer, which will land the Rams significant compensation from the Red Devils.
When the figure is decided, the player's age and time spent at the academy, alongside training and development costs, will all be taken into consideration.
Derby County and Manchester United will attempt to reach a deal on a fair figure between themselves first, with a tribunal to take place if no agreement is made.
Manchester City had also reportedly been in the race for his signature, but it is United who are set to poach the Derby starlet.
