Manchester United lead the chase for Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo

Bournemouth's star forward Antoine Semenyo is reportedly at the top of Manchester United's shortlist as the club plot a major rebuild in the summer transfer window.

Semenyo is not short of admirers following another outstanding individual campaign for the Cherries where he's reached double figure goal involvements for a second successive season.

The 25-year-old signed from Bristol City for £10.5m in January 2023 and committed his future to Bournemouth by putting pen to paper on a new five-year contract extension in July last year.

As such, Semenyo is not expected to go cheaply with the Dorset club believed to value him at £70m.

However, Sky Sports have reported that Manchester United are the front-runners in the pursuit of Semenyo and the Red Devils may submit an incentive-filled offer as they attempt to prise the forward away from the Vitality Stadium.

Ruben Amorim is understood to be a big admirer of Semenyo, who is also rumoured to be the subject of interest from Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham.

The upcoming summer transfer window is set to be a defining period in Manchester United's future as the club attempt to clear the decks and provide Amorim with the players who can fulfil his preferred system.

Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho are all expected to depart Old Trafford permanently and that opens the door for the club to reinvigorate their attacking options.

United's activity in the coming months will likely be dictated by the outcome of their current UEFA Europa League campaign after they progressed to the final four of the competition.

Lifting the Europa League trophy would secure their passage to the UEFA Champions League next term and the lure of dining at the top European table will have a significant benefit on their transfer plans.

United face Athletic Club in the semi-finals and should they emerge victorious, a final clash with one of Tottenham Hotspur or Bodo/Glimt will await them in Bilbao.
