Man City v Liverpool: Salah BOOSTED to 9/4 to prolong scoring streak

We’re offering even bigger prices as top-flight heavyweights Manchester City and Liverpool collide in the EFL Cup on Thursday night.

It’s a fixture that neither Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp wanted this week, but we’ve got it anyway!

Manchester City (10/11) and Liverpool (3/1) are both set to resume their domestic campaigns at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday evening, with a spot in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup up for grabs.

Both managers have voiced their displeasure at the timing of the fixture – sandwiched between the conclusion of the World Cup and the resumption of the Premier League – and the pair are expected to field somewhat disjointed line-ups for the showdown.

Liverpool, of the two, are the likelier to go stronger in terms of team selection, with the Citizens still awaiting the return of a greater number of players who were in action out in Qatar – although they do have the free-scoring Erling Haaland, 11/4 to score first, chomping at the bit to get back to business.

The same can be said of Mohamed Salah however, with the Egyptian king, similarly to Haaland, fired up and ready to hit the ground running after undertaking a winter break of his own (he is 13/2 to break the deadlock).

Both players are likely to start, and both will be keen to fire their respective team into the last eight of the competition.

But will it be Liverpool, who have enjoyed the better of recent meetings between the sides, sailing through to the quarter-finals or can Manchester City buck their recent trend and notch a first victory in six over Klopp’s men?

Mohamed Salah – To Score at Any Time

Was 21/10 >> Now 9/4

Backing up the BOOST:

Salah has seemingly took offence to any suggestion that his career was starting to nosedive after enduring what was, by his own standards, an alarming dip in form following Egypt’s agonising AFCON heartbreak in February.

The Liverpool talisman struggled for form in the aftermath of that dramatic penalty shootout defeat to Senegal in the showpiece final; netting just eight times in his 25 club appearances over the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign.

However, after notching just three in his first nine outings this term too, the 30-year-old has rediscovered his magic, and heads into this fixture in real scoring form, having bagged 10 in his last 11 appearances, including the winner in the league meeting with Guardiola’s side back in October.

Salah, you’d expect, will be as fresh as anybody on the field, and at 9/4, carries plenty of appeal to further prolong his upturn in goalscoring fortunes.
