Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell has confirmed Max Lynch will miss out against Port Adelaide due to concussion but captain Ben McEvoy is in line to make a return.
The Hawks got the season off to a great start when beating North Melbourne in round one and are priced at 3/1 to beat Port Adelaide on Saturday night.
There is mixed news for the Hawks ahead of the game as Lynch suffered a concussion during the 20-point win over the Kangaroos and will sit out against the Power.
But there is good news as skipper McEvoy returns from illness and will be able to line up at the Adelaide Oval.
"Poor old Lynchy, bad timing for him, I know he has had a few concussions already and to have another one wasn't ideal for him in his first opportunity in the brown and gold," Mitchell told reporters on Wednesday.
"But we get Ben McEvoy back into our program. If he gets through the next couple of days of training then he will be available which is always good to have your captain back.
"He just needs to have a run around being out of the program for a week knocks you around a little bit. But we're fortunate that he has recovered pretty well and is feeling good and he will be ready to go."
Meanwhile Mitchell has revealed that half-back Will Day could make his first appearance since undergoing ankle surgery back in June.
"He was playing limited game time last week in the VFL but played three quarters or a touch more than that, so he is getting very close," Mitchell added.
