Luton Relegation Odds and Latest Relegation News - Luton 2/11 to be relegated

Promoted to the Premier League for the first time in their history, Luton Town are the current favourites to suffer an immediate return to the second tier.

After a sobering beginning to the season, Luton are already as short as 2/11 To be Relegated back to the Championship at the first time of asking, following a less than impressive start to their debut Premier League campaign.

The Hatters have enjoyed an incredible rise through the EFL in recent years to reach the top-tier, despite having a much less competitive budget than their rivals.

Playing in the National League as recently as the 2013-2014 season, Luton's progress through the leagues back to the top flight has been impressive, but life in the Premier League is unforgiving.

The Hatters were widely tipped to be relegated before a ball had even been kicked this season, only picking up one point in their opening five games hasn't done much to dispel those views for pundits and bookmakers, especially given that point came at home against ten-man Wolves, which was a golden chance for Luton to pick up their first win of the Premier League season.

Sticking to their ideology of not spending above their means, the club haven't splashed the cash. They have however recruited experienced Premier League names in Ross Barkley and Tim Krul, while revisiting the second tier to prise away some of the leagues promising youngsters in Chiedozie Ogbene, Jacob Brown and Tahith Chong.

Scoring goals may well prove the downfall of Luton this season, something they were not particularly adept at doing in the Championship last season either. They are already the lowest scoring side in the Premier League this season with just three goals from five games.

They were the lowest scoring team to reach the play-offs, despite finishing third, furthermore only one team in the top 10 scored less than Luton in the second tier last season.

The Hatters relied on a solid defence to pick up points in their promotion campaign, something that will not be as easy to achieve in the Premier League as the standard of opposition strikers is far higher.

Have Luton Town ever been relegated before?

Luton have never been relegated from the Premier League as this is their first season operating in the top flight since the formation of the league in 1992/93.

The Hatters are riding the crest of several promotions in a short space of time, since 2013 they have achieved promotion four times, including back-to-back promotions from both League Two and League One.

The club were relegated from the old First Division in the 1991-92 season, one year before the creation of the Premier League.
