Luis Enrique questions Premier League's quality

Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique has questioned the Premier League's status as the 'best in the world' ahead of their UEFA Champions League semi-final first-leg against Arsenal.

PSG have beaten newly-crowned Premier League champions Liverpool and Aston Villa en route to the final four of the competition.

The French side have earned plaudits for their free-flowing attacking style of play, spearheaded by a whole host of exciting forward players.

Everybody speaks about the Premier League like it is the best league in the world. I don't know if I agree or not.

When asked whether or not PSG's matches against Liverpool and Aston Villa would be an advantage to his side as they prepare for a trip to Arsenal, Enrique said:

"I don't know, maybe it is a question for Mr Arteta.

"In terms of confidence, it is very positive for us. We won the match against Liverpool and Liverpool won the Premier League this year.

"But that doesn't mean anything because every match is different.

"Everybody speaks about the Premier League like it is the best league in the world. I don't know if I agree or not. But we are full of confidence and looking forward to playing the semi-final."

The Premier League were awarded an additional fifth spot for next season's UEFA Champions League.

La Liga took the other spot with the extra places being determined by the performances of clubs from the respective leagues in UEFA competitions.

PSG 'more complete' proposition for Arsenal

Tuesday will mark the second time that the sides have met in this season's Champions League campaign.

Goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka handed the French side their first defeat of the season back in October.

Ousmane Dembele was a notable absence from the team sheet that night but he is expected to start this game as he looks to add to 32-strong goal tally for this season.

Luis Enrique was keen to stress that his side will be a different proposition compared to what they were for the Arsenal loss.

The 54-year-old said, "The last game took place on October 1 so that was seven or eight months ago, and there are huge differences between now and then.

“I have reviewed the game, and seen how far our game has come and we are better now.

"We are a more complete team and our next objective is to rewrite history and there is only one way to do that."
