After his superb win at the Genesis Invitational, Ludvig Aberg is 7/2 to win his first major in 2025.
The super Swede was phenomenal in rounds two and four, posting a pair of 66s to edge out Maverick McNealy.
McNealy had of course gone on a remarkable charge of his own on Sunday, carding five straight birdies to go out in 30, and was nine-under-par after his first 13 holes before a costly bogey at 14. The American was unable to birdie the last and had to settle for a clubhouse lead of -11.
Aberg, who had bounced back from a pair of bogeys on holes four and five before birdieing 13, 14 and 15, before two-putting the final hole to win by one.
It's the biggest victory of Aberg's career to date and only serves to ramp up the speculation as to when he'll win his first major.
It does feel like a case of when rather than if for the 25-year-old, who came second on his major debut at last year's US Masters.
He's long enough to contend everywhere, though length is a particular advantage for the US Masters and PGA Championship, while he's also accurate enough off the tee with laser-sharp irons which should allow him to contend in future US Opens, after a T12 finish on debut at Pinehurst.
While he doesn't have a lot of links experience, he did post a T4 finish at the Scottish Open prior to missing the cut at the following week's Open Championship, but his short game is also good enough to be able to perform on links courses.
Of course, majors aren't given out and some top players have finished their careers major-less, but it does feel like the Swede is far too talented for that eventuality to befall him.
