Love Island has expanded globally since the original celebrity debut in 2005 before rebooting to create the version we all know and love. Since then, Love Island has worldwide spin-offs including USA, Australia, All Stars and most recently, The Games.
Without further ado, we've assessed every Love Island UK series and rank them from worst to best.
Winners - Jess Harding and Sammy Root
Love Island series 10 was packed with drama due to contestants such as Messy Mitch (Mitchel Taylor) who as the name suggests, enjoyed stirring up the entertainment in the villa.
There was many twist and turns to keep islanders on their toes such as bringing back favourite islander Molly Marsh to Casa Amor after a shock dumping at the fire pit.
An honourable highlight of the series includes talent show performance from Whitney Adebayo and Tyrique Hyde singing 'Bad B' , which later went viral on social media.
Winners - Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan
After the couple met in Casa Amor, series 9 brought us a historic win as Kai and Sanam took first place. The pair returned to their professions (PE teacher and social worker) after the show ended before getting married in August 2025.
Series 9 was the debut of Casey O'Gorman, who returned to Love Island three more times after his first attempt of finding love.
Winners - Paige Turley and Finley Tapp
Series 6 was the first edition of winter Love Island hosted by Laura Whitmore.
This season brought all the drama alongside some historic one-liners such as Shaughna Phillips' 'Congrats Hun' during an explosive Casa Amor reunion.
Winners - Josh Oyinsan and Mimii Ngulube
During this series, we had our first celebrity bombshell as Joey Essex shook-up the villa on arrival.
2024 was the year for rollercoaster relationships with Harriet Blackmore and Ronnie Vint's hot and cold relationship. We also had shock dumpings including Wil Anderson, which resulted in Uma Jammeh sacrificing her time in the villa to follow their romantic connection.
Winners - Jessica Hayes and Max Morley
The debut series walked so the rest could run.
Series 1 started the legacy of everything that we know and love about Love Island.
The most iconic moment from the series is hands down Jon Clark proposing to Hannah Elizabeth during the finale; that moment will forever be etched in Love Island history.
Winners - Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham
There's only three words that can describe series 4: 'I'm loyal babe'.
We saw an introduction of bringing in ex's to the villa as Jack Fincham was reunited with a familiar face in Casa Amor, although that did not stop him winning the 50k grand prize with Dani Dyer.
Winners - Millie Court and Liam Reardon
After reuniting post-Casa Amor, Liam Reardon was placed under the microscope after he failed to reveal the whole story of his time away from the villa. Fortunately for Millie Court, Lillie Haynes exposed the truth at the recoupling resulting in turmoil in the villa. The pair managed to quash their issues before winning the show together.
A standout moment (and now viral meme) is Millie playing the piano during her talent show.
Winners - Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu
Top five in the rankings means we are starting to heat up the drama and this series was undeniably full of it!
We saw Gemma Owen and Jacques O'Neill reunited after breaking up only six months before the show. To make it even worse, they had to watch each other date other people.
Adam Collard made his shock bombshell entrance as the first returning islander in history.
Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti were arguably the main source of entertainment during the series. Ekin-Su crawling on the terrace and Davide’s one liner ('You are a liar!') led to them winning the show.
Winners - Toni Laites and Cach Mercer
Series 12 brought major twist and turns to the usual set up of Love Island.
We saw the first ever American islander Toni Laites, who went on to win the show with Cach Mercer.
The series had many fan favourites such as Yasmin Pettet, who was nicknamed YasGPT due to her outstanding posture and lack of expression.
There was plenty of drama as we experienced the never-ending love triangle of Harry Cooksley, Shakira Khan and Helena Ford.
Connor Phillips had a record breaking nine couples before Megan Forte Clarke returned to the villa for him after being dumped.
Winners - Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey
Series 2 brought many dramatic altercations including fights between both the boys and girls in a famously unfiltered version of Love Island.
Many couples from this series are still together with children, including Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen alongside winners Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey.
The show was centred around fiery romances, unfiltered drama and even islanders being removed.
Winners - Amber Davies and Kem Cetinay
Series 3 brought the first-ever version of Casa Amor which was a catalyst for drama and the bromance of Chris Hughes and Kem Cetinay flourished on our screens leading to their own spin-off show.
We saw challenges such as the lie detector test which sparked drama between the islanders, while Chris became famous for his love for 'Baby Cash' during the baby challenge with Olivia Attwood.
Including many famous one-liners, moments and even raps, series 3 goes down in history as one of the greatest.
Winners - Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea
Series 5 ranks number one with too many memorable moments and famous islanders to mention.
From 'Storm Anna' to 'Destiny's Chaldish', there simply isn't any competition.
Series 5 brought ultimate bombshell energy with Molly-Mae Hague and Maura Higgins who both still hold major influence on social media.
After Love Island, Tommy Fury and Curtis Pritchard had their own spin-off on ITV2 and continue to appear on TV.
Although she was declared a winner with Greg O'Shea, Amber Gill is commonly known for being the first single winner as fans voted for the love of her character.
