Longest-serving Premier League players

With the news that Crystal Palace icon Joel Ward is set to leave the club, we take a look at the longest-serving players currently in the Premier League.

Premier League

5. Luke Shaw (Manchester United)

10 years, 10 months

Extremely good on his day but plagued by persistent injury problems throughout his Manchester United career.

Plenty of eyebrows were raised when United coughed up a £31m fee for Luke Shaw in July 2014.

The England international has won an FA Cup, EFL Cup, Community Shield and UEFA Europa League during his time at the club.

4. Adam Smith (Bournemouth)

11 years, 3 months

Adam Smith said on Saturday that, "losing has spoilt my weekend," after making a landmark 400th appearance for Bournemouth against Aston Villa.

For a player with over 11 years of service dedicated to one team, it may surprise you that Smith has represented eight different clubs.

Coming through the Spurs academy, he was sent on loan no fewer than seven times before joining the Cherries on a permanent deal in 2014.

The 34-year-old was named as club captain after Neto left for Arsenal last year.

3. Solly March (Brighton)

11 years, 10 months

Another player plagued by recent injuries, Solly March was a mainstay in the Brighton & Hove Albion starting XI for years.

Rising through the ranks all the way from the academy to the first team, March has been key in Brighton's longest sustained period of success.

The 30-year-old experienced his most prolific season at the club in 2022/23, netting seven and providing a further nine assists in the Premier League.

2. Lewis Dunk (Brighton)

15 years

Brighton make their second entry with their club captain Lewis Dunk.

Dunk has played a part in three promotions with the Seagulls, arguably contributing the most to their rapid rise through the footballing ranks.

He has been named Brighton Player of the Year on two occasions and has worn the armband for six years.

1. Seamus Coleman (Everton)

16 years, 4 months

With no reports of a new deal, Seamus Coleman's near 17-year association with Everton Football Club may come to an end in the summer of 2025.

Signing from Sligo Rovers for a fee of just £59,000 makes him arguably the greatest bargain buys of the Premier League era.

The Irishman played an instrumental part in Everton's success in the early-2010s, even earning himself a spot in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year in 2013-14.

Coleman would also be named Everton's Player of the Year in that season.
