Alexis Mac Allister has said previous comments made on his contract situation were made 'purely from emotion'.
The Liverpool midfielder was asked about not being offered a new contract prior to the Reds' clash with Atletico Madrid earlier in the season, a decision he said made him 'very, very sad'.
Mac Allister struggled for form throughout much of the 2025/26 season, and while team mates Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai were offered new deals, Mac Allister was not.
Despite the disappointment, the 27-year-old insisted he'll give his all for the club for the final
"There's no firm decision yet," said Mac Allister to ESPN. "I still have two years left on my contract. As I said, I'm going to give it my all. A lot can happen in that time; there are plenty of options.
"In that press conference, because people were asking me about my future, I spoke purely from emotion. I wasn’t judging the club or anything like that.
"From my side, I really enjoy being where I am.
"Hopefully it'll be for more years, but if it's just two, I'll have to enjoy them with my family, because I have no doubt that I'm at one of the best clubs in the world."
Mac Allister has featured in all five Premier League games for Liverpool this season, starting three.
