We’re offering even bigger prices across all of this weekend’s Premier League action, including a 15/2 shot in Saturday’s early kick-off at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s men were tagged as one of the heavy pre-season favourites to claim Premier League glory come May, whilst there were expectations that the Londoners could also challenge for the coveted silverware.
But, in what has been one of the most unpredictable Premier League campaigns in recent years, the two clubs are bound together in mid-table having struggled to find any real consistency or momentum.
Astoundingly, both are six points closer to the drop zone than they are to runaway leaders Arsenal; although neither are in any realistic danger of being sucked into matters towards the foot of the table.
Still, there is no doubt that Klopp and Graham Potter will be concerned about their side’s frailties this term, and each will be hoping that a victory at Anfield on Saturday paves the way for far brighter times ahead.
Chelsea are throwing everything at rectifying their well below-par showing thus far, forking out £70m for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhalo Mudryk and a further £35m on French defender Benoit Badiashile in recent weeks; taking their seasonal transfer spend to well in excess of a staggering £500m!
Liverpool, however, are operating on a different scale, and despite landing Cody Gakpo (12/5 to score anytime), they will largely be counting upon the players already in the building - including Mohamed Salad and Darwin Nunez - to transform their fortunes between now and the end of the season.
Nunez has netted ten times in 27 appearances since his high-profile £85m summer switch, and although he has netted just once in the league since October, there are signs that it is only a matter of time until he rediscovers his goal scoring touch.
The Uruguayan has shown he is not afraid to pull the trigger having fired 55 attempts at goal in his 13 top-flight fixtures, hitting the target with almost 50 percent of them, whilst also rattling the woodwork five times.
Those figures suggest that it is surely inevitable that he soon starts to hit the back of the net on a far more frequent basis, and help take the burden off the shoulders of talisman Mohamed Salah, who is 9/2 to break the deadlock this weekend.
The 30-year-old Egyptian, who spent a couple of uneventful years with Chelsea earlier in his career, has weighed in with 12 goals in his last 15 club appearances, and would love to further extend that impressive record against his struggling ex-employers.
The Blues had lost five of their seven previous top-flight outings prior to their narrow 1-0 success against Crystal Palace last Sunday, and whilst that triumph will have appeased Potter, he will know that they will have to up their levels yet further if they are to notch a first domestic away victory in over three months.
A 2-0 win over Aston Villa in the Midlands in mid-October was the last time Chelsea took maximum spoils away from Stamford Bridge, and whilst Liverpool have been under-performing in 2022/23, they’ve still only been beaten at HQ in one of their 15 fixtures there – outlining the 14/5 price available on Chelsea to win the game.
