Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth for £40m.
The move has been on the cards for a number of weeks now, with parties finally confirming the deal.
Kerkez said: "I'm really happy. It’s a real honour for me to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, the biggest club in England."
With a number of Liverpool fans describing the Kerkez saga as the worst kept secret in football, it’s a move that has seemingly been in the works for a number of weeks, if not months.
The Hungarian full-back has rapidly become one of the Premier League's finest talents, earning himself a nomination in the 2024/25 PFA Young Player of the Year award.
He joined the Cherries from AZ Alkmaar prior to the start of the 2023/24 season, and went on to become an integral part of Andoni Iraola’s well-oiled side.
Playing 28 times in his first Premier League campaign, he has been ever-present in Bournemouth’s most recent campaign, featuring in all 38 contests as his side recorded an impressive ninth place finish.
While it would be unjust to undermine Andrew Robertson’s achievements in a red shirt, he has showed signs of slowing down in more recent terms and is attracting interest from La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid.
A relentless runner with a knack for creating chances, Kerkez shares many similarities to the Scotsman, and it's clear to see why Arne Slot is keen to add the full-back as the potential successor to Robertson.
Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and now Kerkez have now all been confirmed in what looks to be a busy summer window for the Reds in a bid to make it league title number 21.
