LIV Golf CEO says "our season continues exactly as planned"

LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil has sent an email to staff saying "our season continues exactly as planned, uninterrupted and at full throttle."

The last 24 hours have seen rumours swirling around the future of LIV Golf, with suggestions the tour may be about to fold. Ryan French, who runs the X account Monday Q Info (@acaseofthegolf1), said late on Tuesday night "I've heard from multiple sources that a bombshell announcement on LIV's future is imminent."

On X Spaces, French added: "I have some pretty good sources and I’ve heard that some other people have sources that LIV is shutting down."

The Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia then revealed a new five-year investment strategy, confirming their move from 'a period of rapid growth ... to sustained value creation', leading to O'Neil sending an email to the LIV staff.

In the email, O'Neil said: "I want to be crystal clear: Our season continues exactly as planned, uninterrupted and at full throttle. While the media landscape is often filled with speculation, our reality is defined by the work we do on the grass. We are heading into the heart of our 2026 schedule with the full energy of an organisation that is bigger, louder, and more influential than ever before.

"The life of a startup movement is often defined by these moments of pressure... Let's go out and how the world why LIV Golf is the future of the game."

While the email suggests it's business as usual for LIV, the overriding message appears to be that it's business as usual for now, as opposed to completely dismissing the rumours that the league is about to fold.

LIV has already undergone a period of change this season, with Patrick Reed leaving and Brooks Koepka returning to the PGA Tour, and PIF diverting funds away from the league does little to quell the noise.
