Lionel Messi is set to make his highly-anticipated return for Inter Miami ahead of their MLS clash with the Philadelphia Union.
Messi has not featured for Inter Miami since sustaining an ankle injury during Argentina's 1-0 triumph over Colombia in the Copa America final in July.
The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner participated in full training at the start of the week, though Messi sparked concerns he may face a longer wait on the sidelines after sitting out Wednesday's session.
It was later confirmed that Messi was merely suffering from a sore throat rather than any setback regarding his sprained ankle. The Argentine was at full pelt in a training session on Thursday, prompting head coach Gerardo Martino to suggest he will make his long-awaited comeback against Philadelphia.
While news of Messi's return is a major boost, Miami have fared relatively well in his absence, winning six of the eight matches Messi missed in all competitions.
The 37-year-old undoubtedly remains a cut above the rest and will be eager to haul himself back on the goal trend that saw him register 12 goals and nine assists in just 12 matches of the 2024 MLS season.
Messi is 8/13 to score anytime in the match against Philadelphia and 10/1 to mark his return to action with a hat-trick.
