Liga MX is the top professional division in Mexico and is one of the highest attended league's in the world.
The 2024/25 Liga MX season started on the 5th July 2024 and concludes in May 2025.
Each Liga MX season is split into two championships of 17 regular season games each, with play-offs following both. This means there will be two champions in every season: an Apertura champion and a Clausara champion.
The Apertura marks the opening championship where the top six teams qualify for the play-off quarter-finals and the next four teams qualify for the play-in round. The play-in round provides the four teams with an opportunity to progress to the last eight.
Quarter-finals are seeded and all knockout stage matches are played over two legs, including the final.
The Clausara is the second championship and commences a month after the Apertura concludes. The Clausara abides by the same structure as the Apertura, except in this instance there are CONCACAF Champions Cup berths on the line.
Until 2026, no clubs are relegated from Liga MX.
