Liam Cameron has promised to seize the biggest opportunity of his professional career as he gets set to reacquaint himself with Ben Whittaker for a second time on Easter Sunday.
The domestic rivals fought out a contentious split draw back in October after an enthralling showdown was brought to an abrupt halt in Saudi Arabia with many sharing the feeling that Cameron was ahead at the time of the bizarre stoppage.
The underdog had certainly enjoyed the better of the opening three or four rounds, and looked to have hurt the BOXXER star in the fifth, just moments before the pair tumbled over the top rope with the Olympic silver medalist sustaining an injury to his ankle as a consequence.
With Whittaker deemed unfit to continue, the fight went to the judges scorecards, with one edging the fight in favour of the Walsall man (58-57), one leaning towards Cameron (58-57) and the other being unable to split the two (58-58), leading to a technical draw being announced.
Despite Cameron taking his opponent to deep waters last time around, it's Whittaker who has been installed as the odds-on 3/10 favourite to prevail in this weekend's rematch, although that isn't something that concerns the pre-fight outsider in the least.
"This is a life-changing opportunity for me, this is mega-stardom for me in my own head, but there's no pressure for me, it's all on him, he's the favourite," he told DAZN's Ariel Helwani & Ade Oladipo show.
"Do you know what, it's one fight at a time, of course, but this is how much I want to win this fight, if I could win just one more fight in my life and lose every single one of them after, then it would be this one.
"I have had the best camp of my life, and I know boxers say that all the time, but I genuinely have - I have so much confidence in my own ability now because of what happened last time, and knowing I had hurt him.
"This fight is everything for me - in a way, this is life or death for me in boxing - I have a chance that I couldn't even have dared to imagine a few months ago."
Whilst Whittaker carries all of the fanfare and flambuoyancy, Cameron possesses true grit, determination and heart; after all, he's been through times of genuine adversity both in and out of the ring, and survived to tell the tale.
"I couldn't wish for a better comeback in my life, and I just thank everybody who has got behind me," he added.
"I have gone through so much turbulence with the ban, drugs and losing my step daughter, and I can't believe I am here now, in this position, with a career-high payday in front of me, and a massive opportunity.
"On paper, I was simply put in this fight last time to get beat, but sometimes there is a bigger heart inside you than people realise and there's an incredible desire inside of me to get through situations that others feel are impossible to.
"If there was a world title for heart, then I would have won one."
