Leigh Wood has discussed who he would like to fight next following a TKO defeat to Anthony Cacace.
Leigh Wood returned to the ring for the first time in over 18 months when fighting Anthony Cacace at the Nottingham Arena in May.
It didn’t quite go the way he would have liked, however, with trainer Ben Davison throwing in the towel after an onslaught from Cacace in round nine.
Despite a fourth career loss aged 36, Wood has no intention of retiring just yet, and is set to stage talks with Queensberry promoter Frank Warren to discuss his next steps.
When speaking to The Stomping Ground, he said: “I’m going to meet him (Frank Warren). We’re going to have a chat today and meet this week.
“There’s a few fights that make sense for me. We’ll have a chat with Frank and see what the best route for me is.”
I think the Warrington fight makes sense for me. I said before the fight if Conlan can pull a few wins together that fight makes sense as well.

“I’d like to do a better job on him (Warrington). I’d like to do a lot better job. I don’t like him and it’s one that gets me up for it. It’s not the only option.”
Prior to Josh Warrington’s most recent victory against Asad Asif Khan, he had lost three consecutive bouts, including a TKO defeat to Wood, and questions were expectedly starting to be asked regarding his retirement.
As clarified by Wood, however, Warrington is not the only option, and he backs himself to secure a big fight irrespective of his latest defeat.
“Having won world titles, I’m an established name now so it probably wouldn’t be hard to make a big fight. I’m not sure how many fights I’ve got left so I’ve got to be smart picking the right ones.”
