Leicester City launch bid for Irish star as Russell Martin seeks deadline day reunion

Leicester City have launched a late bid for Hibernian defender Warren O'Hora as boss Russell Martin eyes a a reunion with his former MK Dons star.

League One

The 27-year-old Dublin native worked under Martin at Stadium MK in 2021 and could now be on course to link back up with him for a second time at the King Power Stadium.

According to Leicestershire Live, the Foxes have made an offer to Scottish Premiership side Hibs as they look to strengthen their defensive options prior to tomorrow night's transfer deadline.

Martin has already signed 10 new players as part of his Leicester overhaul this summer and his work doesn't appear to be finished with an experienced central defender and another attacker understood to be on the former Rangers boss's radar.

Ilari Kangasniemi arrived from FC Inter Turku last week to further enhance the League One side's backline, but O'Hora would add add vital experience to a side which has struggled to acclimatise to life back in the third-tier this term.

The Foxes currently sit in 21st spot in the table having failed to win any of their opening three league fixtures this term, with their most recent ending in stalemate in Milton Keynes.

News of the reported interest in O'Hora first surfaced on Sunday when the Hibs Observer credited Leicester with genuine interest, and further claims on Monday indicate that an official bid has been lodged.

O'Hora, who has made 85 appearances at Easter Road, was absent from the squad that beat Dundee at the weekend due to speculation surrounding his future.

"Warren was just unavailable, along with a few others," manager David Gray said.

" We're getting closer to the end of the transfer window now, so I would expect there to be speculation.

"As always, we are actively looking, and we're ready for whatever comes. At this moment in time, I'm certainly not looking to lose anybody but at the same time, everyone's got valuations, and if it's the right thing for everybody involved, who knows."

O'Hora had previously played every minute of all nine of the Hibees league and cup matches this season.
