Leeds v Norwich: Prediction, Tips and Odds

A place at Wembley is up for grabs on Thursday as Leeds United host Norwich City in the second leg of their Championship semi-final and Racing Post's Dan Childs has picked out his three best bets for the blockbuster clash at Elland Road.

Leeds deployed an extra midfielder for the first leg at Carrow Road, and their more cautious approach contributed to an uninspiring 0-0 draw.

However, they are well-placed in the tie and are expected to play front-foot football in the return match at Elland Road.

A more open game is anticipated by Dan Childs, who has picked out his three best bets for the clash in West Yorkshire.

Leeds are the 8/13 favourites to win without the need of extra-time and penalties and 3/10 to advance to Wembley.

Norwich are 9/2 to triumph on the night and 12/5 to reach the final.

Leeds v Norwich betting tips and predictions

Leeds and over 2.5 goals - 6/4

Leeds were delighted to emerge from Sunday's play-off semi-final first leg at Carrow Road with a 0-0 draw, but they are likely to be far more ambitious and proactive in the return match and can be rewarded with a high-scoring victory.

The usual instinct of Leeds manager Daniel Farke is to play an attacking style, but he changed his approach at the weekend by packing the midfield and playing without a recognised centre-forward.

Farke's adjustment was understandable because Leeds had gone through a sticky patch and were conceding far too many goals.

And he will have been reasonably content with the outcome in Norfolk after his team controlled the game for long periods and restricted Norwich to very few chances.

Norwich missed a big opportunity in the first half when Josh Sargent's header flashed wide of the target, but they ran out of ideas after the break and seemed happy enough to hear the final whistle.

The Canaries did nowhere near enough to win the game, and they may live to regret not taking a few more risks because the return match is likely to be a much tougher assignment.

With the backing of a noisy home crowd, Leeds are sure to play with greater intent.

They have racked up 53 points from 23 home matches this season, including a fairly routine 1-0 success at home to Norwich when Patrick Bamford's 16th minute goal clinched the three points.

Norwich will not go down without a fight and should have their moments on the counter-attack and from set-pieces.

However, the likelihood of a much more open game should suit the home side, who look overpriced 6/4 shots to win a contest generating at least three goals.

Crysencio Summerville to score anytime - 15/8

Leeds have multiple threats in the attacking third, with five players contributing at least eight Championship goals.

However, Dutch attacker Crysencio Summerville has been the star man, delivering 19 league goals and nine assists and he could have a massive impact in the second leg.

Summerville showed fleeting glimpses of his ability in the Premier League last season but he made huge strides over the last 12 months and is one of the outstanding talents in the Championship.

The 22-year-old hasn't scored since netting a double in last month's 4-3 win at Middlesbrough, but his mini three-game goal drought could be about to expire.

Dimitrios Giannoulis to be booked - 10/3

Norwich can expect to be put under a lot more stress than they were in the first leg, and a few of their defenders are strong candidates for a booking.

Veteran central defender Shane Duffy was carded last Sunday after clattering into the back of Summerville, and his lack of pace could put him in some sticky situations at Elland Road.

Duffy is understandably short odds at 15/8 for another yellow card, but one of his fellow defenders, feisty left back Dimitrios Giannoullis, looks a better value bet at 10/3.

Giannaloulis was cautioned at the weekend after a poor tackle on Leeds winger Wilfried Gnonto.

The Greek likes to defend aggressively, but he faces an even more demanding night's work in West Yorkshire and is a strong candidate to enter referee Jarred Gillett's notebook.
