League One Tuesday Accumulator: Portsmouth feature in 55/1 chance

With just over two months of the League One season remaining, the battle for promotion and relegation is intensifying and we have picked out a four-fold acca for Tuesday’s matches that, if successful, pays out at 55/1.

Sixth-placed Derby County entertain relegation-threatened Cheltenham Town while struggling MK Dons visit Lincoln City, Peterborough United take on Charlton Athletic and Portsmouth face in-form Bolton Wanderers.

We have picked out four matches to follow with our four-fold accumulator giving odds of 55/1.

League One Tuesday four-fold acca:

Derby to win @ 4/11

Lincoln and MK Dons to draw @ 11/5

Charlton to win @ 15/4

Portsmouth to win @ 17/10

Odds were correct at time of writing and are subject to change.

Rams eye play-off boost

OddsDerby County 4/11, Draw 7/2, Cheltenham 9/1

After making a mediocre start to the season, Derby have been in great form since the end of October, losing just one of their last 18 League One matches, at Wycombe earlier this month, and moving from mid-table to a play-off spot.

They have thrashed Forest Green (4-0), Accrington Stanley (4-0) and Morecambe (5-0) at Pride Park during that run and are available at 14/1 to record another 4-0 victory against Cheltenham.

Cheltenham start Tuesday’s fixture just two points above the relegation zone after a miserable run of nine defeats in their last 13 encounters.

They followed up a 4-0 home loss to Barnsley on 18th February by suffering another 4-0 hammering at Portsmouth on Saturday and are 15/8 to be relegated this term.

Derby will be confident of completing the double over the Robins having won 3-2 at Cheltenham last month.

Dons desperate for a win

OddsLincoln 13/10, Draw 11/5, MK Dons 9/4

MK Dons go in search of only their third away victory of the campaign when they take on draw specialists Lincoln.

After only missing automatic promotion to the Championship last season by one point and eventually being beaten in the play-offs by Wycombe, this has been a desperately disappointing season for MK Dons and they are in grave danger of slipping back into the fourth tier of English football.

A 1-0 home loss to Ipswich Town on Saturday was their third successive defeat but at least they were able to stem the flow of goals conceded having been beaten 5-0 by Bolton and 5-2 by Sheffield Wednesday in their previous two matches.

The Red Imps drew 0-0 at Milton Keynes last month, one of 16 draws they have been involved in this season.

Charlton can derail Posh’s play-off push

WhatPeterborough v Charlton
WhereLondon Road, Peterborough

OddsPeterborough 3/4, Draw 14/5, Charlton 15/4

Impressive back-to-back victories against Morecambe (3-0) and Plymouth (5-2) have revived hopes of a play-off place for Peterborough.

Posh, once again under Darren Ferguson’s stewardship, have been very inconsistent this season though and may come unstuck against mid-table Charlton, who pushed League One leaders Sheffield Wednesday hard on Saturday before eventually succumbing to a 1-0 defeat at The Valley.

It is now 16 years since the Addicks were relegated from the Premier League and they seem as far away as ever to returning to the top-flight of English football.

However, they have been tight defensively this season and can edge to a narrow victory at Peterborough. A Charlton win on Tuesday is available at 15/4.

Pompey can halt Bolton's charge

WhatPortsmouth v Bolton
WhereFratton Park, Portsmouth
When19:45, Tuesday 28th February 2023
OddsPortsmouth 17/10, Draw 12/5, Bolton 8/5

A run of six victories in their last seven matches has propelled Bolton into play-off contention but they could struggle on the south coast in a meeting between two of the biggest clubs in League One.

Bolton’s home form has been superb this term but they have been more unsure on their travels while Portsmouth, who have lost their way after starting the season in scintillating fashion, remain difficult to beat on home soil.

Pompey have only lost twice at Fratton Park in 16 League One matches this season and can record a seventh home victory of the campaign at 17/10 and keep a fourth clean sheet in a row at 12/5.
