The League One promotion battle is heating up, with two of the main contenders, Plymouth and Ipswich, featuring in our Saturday Treble.

With leaders Sheffield Wednesday in action on Friday against Bolton, the attention will shift to the teams directly below the Owls in the standings, with second-placed Plymouth heading into the weekend sitting two points clear of Ipswich in third. 

Both sides will fancy their chances of extending their impressive home records on Saturday, with the Pilgrims hosting bottom of the table Forest Green and the Tractor Boys entertaining Shrewsbury.

Pilgrims to bounce back on home soil

Plymouth have spent much of the season sitting in the top two of the League One standings, but they are starting to feel the heat from the chasing pack following last weekend's chastening 3-0 defeat at Barnsley. 

However, manager Steven Schumacher will be confident his side can get their promotion charge back on track when they welcome struggling Forest Green to Home Park, as Plymouth have been near perfect on home soil this season. 

The Pilgrims boast the best home record in the division, winning 16 and losing just one of their 18 league fixtures on their own patch, with that sole defeat coming against Port Vale at the start of December. 

Forest Green will head to the south coast sitting bottom of the standings and 12 points adrift of safety, while they have taken just two points from their eight matches since former Everton star Duncan Ferguson was appointed manager at the end of January. 

Rovers have at least netted in their last three league assignments and they could well get on the scoresheet against a Plymouth team that have conceded in six of their last eight, however, that is likely to be as good as it gets for the basement club.

Ipswich to keep the up the pressure on top two

A five-match winning run has reignited Ipswich's push for automatic promotion and the Tractor Boys could even end the weekend in the top two if results go their way. 

Kieran McKenna's side should certainly uphold their end of the bargain when they welcome mid-table Shrewsbury to Portman Road, with Ipswich unbeaten in their last 11 home fixtures, registering seven wins and four draws. 

Ipswich have not only been winning games of late, but they have been doing so emphatically, as four of the five successes they have enjoyed on their current run have been by at least a two-goal margin, which could make them an intriguing option in the Handicap Result market. The Tractor Boys are 11/10 to win with a -1 handicap. 

Shrewsbury will head into the fixture without a win in four away games and Steve Cotterill's team could prove the ideal opponents for Ipswich at this stage of the season, as they are neither in relegation danger or likely to push for the playoffs.

The relegation battle is set to intensify in League One on Saturday, with a number of big games involving teams at the wrong end of the table, including Accrington Stanley's clash with MK Dons. 

Stanley will head into the contest sitting a place and two points above the relegation zone, with the Dons currently just inside the bottom four. 

Neither team has been in especially good form, with Accrington winning just one of their last six, while MK claimed their first victory in seven with a 1-0 success against second-bottom Cambridge last weekend. 

With the stakes so high and both teams' form questionable, this has all the hallmarks of a must-not-lose game, rather than one where the sides go all out for victory. 

That makes the draw in the Full Time Result market appealing at odds of 23/10, while to further emphasise that point, the last two clashes between these two sides have ended all-square.
