League One Play-Off Final Odds: Bolton Wanderers 4/7 to win promotion; Oxford United 11/8

Oxford United are 11/8 to win promotion to the Championship after defeating Peterborough United 2-1 on aggregate in their League One play-off semi-final.

Bolton Wanderers await them in the final at Wembley, with the Trotters priced at 4/7 to seal a return to the second tier for the first time since 2019.

Bolton secured their passage in dramatic circumstances following an exhilarating semi-final clash with Barnsley.

Leading 3-1 from the first leg at Oakwell, Ian Evatt's side found their advantage reduced by Sam Cosgrove but they settled the nerves with a quickfire double courtesy of Aaron Collins and Eoin Toal.

The managerless Tykes rallied back in the second half and set up a grandstand finish thanks to goals from Adam Phillips and a Cosgrove second. Barnsley were knocking on the door in the closing stages but Bolton resisted all efforts to book their ticket to Wembley.

All eyes were then fixated on the Weston Homes Stadium on Wednesday as Oxford looked to preserve their one-goal lead against Peterborough.

Darren Ferguson's team netted first in a feisty encounter when Josh Knight smartly converted from a corner, but Oxford restored parity on the night when Cameron Brannagan converted from the penalty spot.

The U's defended valiantly in the second period and had an answer to whatever Peterborough conjured. The hosts pushed relentlessly in the final stages and yet they were unable to muster a breakthrough, leaving Des Buckingham's side with a chance of securing promotion to the second tier for the first time since 1999.

Bolton, who were 5-0 victors over Oxford when the two sides met in March, are 21/20 to win the match in 90 minutes, while Oxford are 23/10 to get the job done in normal time.

Not since 2018 has a League One play-off final gone to extra-time and the match is priced at 11/2 to be decided in the additional 30 minutes.

2014 was the last time the League One play-off final witnessed a penalty shootout when Rotherham United prevailed over Shrewsbury Town.
