The final quarterfinal match of the weekend will help finish up who will play in the semi-final round of the League of Legends World Championship.
It has been a fun and challenging run to the playoffs of the LOL World Championship, and the final day of action for the quarterfinals is quickly approaching.
This whole week saw plenty of surprises with Asia representing two of the four spots booked in the semi-finals thus far.
Most of the field that reached the knockout stage were from China or Korea. That ultimately proved that Asia still has a firm hold on being the best Continent for League of Legends players in the world.
Europe and North America had plenty of big-name teams reach Worlds 2022, but they just couldn’t find a way to outplay the Chinese or Korean organisations in the group stage. Better luck next year. Now let's look ahead to Sunday's action in LOL.
Here is a look at the fourth and final Quarterfinal match of the 2022 LOL World Championship.
What: | DRX vs. Edward Gaming, LOL World Championship Quarterfinal |
Where: | United States |
When: | 17:00, Sunday 23rd October 2022 |
How to watch: | LOL YouTube Channel / Twitch |
Odds: | DRX 11/8, Edward Gaming 8/15 |
Not only are bragging rights on the line, but so is a berth into the semi-final round of the 2022 League of Legends World Championship. DRX will duke it out with Edward Gaming. Both teams had reasonably easy group paths to get through to reach the knockout stage.
DRX entered the main event in Group C after starting out in the Play-In event. So, they have had a very long road to this point. They went unbeaten in the Group play portion of the play-in, winning all five of their matches. That then brought them to Group C in the main event.
They had to outfox Rogue, Top Esports and GAM Esports in their group to reach the elimination bracket. They were able to finish with a 4-2 record. They dropped a match against Rogue and Top Esports in that portion of the schedule.
After emerging as one of the two teams in their group they moved on to the knockout stage. They had to play a tie-breaker match against Rogue and they were able to win that, which moved them into their current position. Now one of the two remaining Korean organisations will try to take down one of China's most notorious teams.
Edward Gaming had an easy and reasonable path to this match as they didn't have to worry about playing in the play-in. They were the team that won the 2022 LPL Regional for the auto-bid to LOL Worlds.

Plus, you can't forget they are the defending World Champions in League of Legends as they defeated DWG KIA at Worlds 2021. Edward had a little slip up in the group stage as they finished 4-2 and were edged out of the top seed by T1, who finished at 5-1.
Edward Gaming might have a bigger edge than initially thought as they didn't have to play an extra match like DRX had to. Both teams have proven they belong on this stage, and now they will both have a chance to prove they are among the elite of the elite in LOL.
Officially this match features China's number three team against a Play-In team from Korea. That's just another place where Edward Gaming has an edge. It has been a big improvement for this DRX team after they failed to reach this stage in 2021.
Edward Gaming will be hoping to keep their roster the same as their previous success at this level will help carry them to another crown. They rock up with a line-up of Flandre, Jiejie, Scout, Viper and Meiko. DRX will try to counter with their line-up of Kingen, Pyosik, Zeka, Deft, and BeryL.
Both teams are well known in LOL, but surprisingly their first-ever head-to-head should be an exciting way to end the final match of the quarter-final round of this tournament.
Edward Gaming clearly is the favourite in this match, but DRX has plenty of talent across their line-up to really steal the show. It's a very tough choice for this match-up given the talent involved on both sides, but DRX is ready to show the world they mean business. So backing them at 11/8 is the right play for this battle.
