Clubs will look to Everton, the most recent Premier League side to be handed points deductions owing to financial issues; the Toffees were handed a 10-point penalty for PSR breaches, though that was later reduced to six, receiving another two for the following season.
Given the comparative severity between Everton's guilt and what Manchester City have been accused of, 10 points could seem like a drop in the ocean when the verdict is finally reached, with titles being stripped and potential expulsion from the league even on the cards.
It's rare we see Premier League sides handed points deductions; they're generally financially stable enough to avoid most infractions that result in points being taken away. Southampton are the most recent club to suffer a points deduction, after also being kicked out of last year's Championship play-offs due to breaching EFL regulations regarding filming other clubs' training.
